Publication Date: October 17, 2008

Over the next several months, Julie Olander, an internationally recognized artist, will be teaching a series of four classes for both adults and children at The Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum. The first workshop will be held on November 5th and 6th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Color and form are Julie’s primary interests, as well as the way light affects landscapes or still life objects. Ms. Olander holds a Masters Degree in Art and has received numerous awards and recognitions over the last 30 years. She has studied with Charles Reid, Charles Sovek, Sam Barber, and Robert Douglas Hunter.
Well respected for her fine watercolors and oils, Julie’s paintings are consistently selected for juried shows, where she has won over 25 ribbons. Ms Olander’s work has been shown at the Decordova, Fuller, Danforth, and Cape Cod Art Museums, Boston City Hall, and in the Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Ms. Olander is a member of the Allied Artists of America and an associate member in the New England Watercolor Society.  She is a member of the “21 in Truro” Group of Cape Cod, which has been featured at the Cahoon Museum and the Cape Museum of Fine Art.
Ms. Olander teaches in both of her studios, at several art associations, and does workshops nationally and overseas. In Massachusetts, Ms. Olander is a member of the Cape Cod Art Association and Falmouth Art Association. In Florida, she is a member of the Ft. Myers and Bonita Springs Art Leagues, among others.
