New Shell ID Guide Sheet

Publication Date: April 8, 2009

The Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum introduced on April 7, 2009, its new laminated guide ‘Seashells of Sanibel and Captiva Islands.’ The two-sided color sheet measures about 8.5 × 11”  and was entirely produced at the Museum. The pictures and design are by Museum director Dr. José H. Leal.  The shells portrayed are from the Museum’s Sanibel-Captiva collection (74 of gastropods, 74 of bivalves), totaling 147 species. The guide provides scientific and common names as well as the larger local size of the species included.  The guide is sold exclusively at the Museum store or via mail order for $7.95 (plus 6% tax, if sent to a Florida address), and $2 first class mail.
