The Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum, which employs nine staff members, is fortunate to have more than 100 dedicated volunteers helping the Museum in several departments.
Volunteers, who are wintertime or year-round residents, come from throughout Lee and Collier counties. They range from casual collectors of seashells to scientists who are experienced in the field of malacology. All have an abiding interest in the Museum and its mission. More than a dozen Sanibel School students are also actively involved as junior docents.
Positions for volunteers include exhibit hall docents, school and adult group tour docents, slide show lecturers, Collections Department assistants, and Museum Store salespeople.
New volunteers are always welcome. For further information, contact Public Programs Specialist Diane Orvis Thomas, email@example.com, or by calling 239/395-2233 or 888/679-6450. Click here to print the Volunteer Application
