Have you seen Thrush Cowries on the west coast of Florida?

We have a request for our followers and shell enthusiasts collecting and beachcombing along the west coast of Florida. Please let us know in case you find or have found shells or living specimens of the Thrush Cowrie (Naria turdus) anywhere between Florida Bay / Ten Thousand Islands (to the south) and the Big Bend (where the Florida peninsula meets the Panhandle) (to the north).

Under the leadership of Dr Anton Oleinik (Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton), teammates Dr José H Leal (National Shell Museum, Sanibel), Alex Fogg (Destin-Fort Walton Beach Natural Resources), and Janessa Fletcher (Fish and Wildlife Research Institute-FWRI, St Petersburg) are working on a project assessing the distribution and range expansion of that non-indigenous species in Florida and in the USA. Found one or more? Email Dr Leal at jleal@169.47.206.118. Thank you!
