The Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum & Aquarium opened in 1995 and is a nationally accredited natural history museum with a primary focus on mollusks, their ecosystems, and conservation education.

The Museum's ground floor Living Gallery of Aquariums have been restored following damage from Hurricane Ian in 2022. The second floor Great Hall of Shells is still in the rebuilding phase, and should be reinstalled by the summer of 2025.

The Museum continues to educate and engage with the community through successful K-12 outreach programs, field education, classes, in-person and online lectures, exhibits, research and scholarship, internships, and other initiatives.

Gifts to the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum & Aquarium are 100% tax-deductible.
